 VaproShield breathable membranes and air barriers help to manage the stack effect, by allowing moisture to continually filter from the building interior to the exterior where it dissipates. Stack effect is caused by the warm indoor air rising and escaping through ventilation openings and leakage, especially in mid and high level buildings. The rising warm air reduces the building pressure forcing cold air to infiltrate. During cool seasons, the effect is reversed.
