Climate Science
Climate variables impact the structural durability and indoor air quality of a building. Condensation and water intrusion can cause significant building damage due to mold, mildew and rot, as well as reduced thermal performance and poor indoor air quality.
Ensure superior building performance by selecting the "right" product for climate and building requirements. Applications will vary depending on the need for vapor permeability, air resistance and durability factors.
Weather Resistive Barriers Quick Tips
- There are different types of weather resistive barriers including vapor barriers, vapor retarders, air barriers and air retarders.
- Not all air barriers are vapor barriers and not all vapor barriers are air barriers.
- Air barriers reduce air infiltration from outside into the building, sealing the building and eliminating breathability.
- Vapor Retarders do not allow liquid or vapor to pass through to the interior increasing the risk of condensation and vapor infiltration damage.
