High Rise Attachment Spacing Tables
VaproShield offers specific installation fastener spacings for our breathable membranes for buildings between 70 to 625 feet in height, differentiated by exposure, building category, fixing types and wind speeds.
Below you find the VaproShield High Rise Fastener Requirements Wizard. The wizard is designed to determine fastener/plate spacing by zone in accordance with testing conducted by an independent laboratory.

Testing to determine high-rise fastener requirements for WallShield and WrapShield was conducted at an independent laboratory. As per the 2006 Building Code analysis of rupture (pull-through) performance data relative to wall cladding design pressure requirements for enclosed buildings was determined in accordance with ASCE 7-05.*
The rupture (pull-through) performance data is for #14 diameter screws with stress plates. The weather resistive barrier products were fastened through wall sheathing (engineered wood/gypsum-based wallboard) into steel studs spaced at 16”o.c. The analysis is based on a 1.4 to 1 margin of safety and relates to critical corner areas (Zone 4) and mid-wall areas (Zone 5).
In ASCE 7-05* Exposure Category B relates to urban/suburban or wooded areas. Exposure Category C relates to flat open country and water surfaces in hurricane prone regions. ASCE 7-05* assigns an Importance Factors of I to Category II Buildings (i.e. residential apartments, offices) and an Importance Factor of 1.15 to Category III or IV Buildings (i.e. schools, hospitals, power stations).
